Heifer Grazing Costs 2010-2011

The Heifers returning to your milking platform will be well grown and in good condition. We have animal health programmes in place with constant monitoring giving consistency and all inclusive in the above costings. Should zinc capsules be required an additional payment of half the cost will be charged.

All Heifers are on a weight gain rate, which is fair for both parties. Please advise us of your target weight so that we can match heifers and farms.

Winter Dairy Cow Grazing

The company undertakes to take all reasonable care of the stock including requesting reasonable veterinary attention in respect to stock health. Dairy Grazing Limited maintains close monitoring of stock with regular reports to the Owner.

The cows will be fed a minimum of kgs of dry matter per day, consisting of an agreed suitable diet of pasture and/or maize silage, grass silage or palm kernel.  Winter cow grazing rates are calculated on a 'kilogram of dry matter' basis, so you have the choice of between 9 – 15 kg per day.

Feed budgets are updated every week to ensure optimum stock health and weight gain. With total herd winter cow grazing both property maintenance and grass growth can be optimised, and you, the farmer, can enjoy a well earned break, knowing your valuable stock are well cared for.

Carry Over Cows

Grazing is available from March onwards for carry over cows until following year (May) and then the option is available to stay on at a winter rate until June. We can arrange for pregnancy testing in March/April. All cows return home with a minimum score count of 5.
